Inspiration, Time Management

You are so fortunate. I’m fortunate. Why are we?

We own a dry cleaning business. We’re in the arena of life. When you think about it, you can learn most everything you need to know in life by owning a business. I’ve been in the arena 33 times. That’s right, I’ve started 33 businesses. And by starting all those businesses and going through lots of setbacks, you really can appreciate the good times (and even the not so good times).

You are gifted. You have to be to put up with all the stuff in your dry cleaning business. Most people would end up in the looney bin after a week in our shoes. You can’t start out on top. Unless of course, your parents gave you the business. I hope they didn’t. I hope they sold it to you so you could experience what the rest of us have. When you look back at it, not knowing if you could make payroll was exciting. The exciting part was when you made it. Trying out a new idea with no clue if it would work or not and it worked! That’s exciting. How about the time you rolled out what you thought was the most inventive marketing idea of the century and not one person became a customer. That’s depressing and exciting at the same time (in a business kind of way)!

So while your climbing, your business is growing. Your helping your employees grow. You’re growing as a dry cleaner and as a person. It’s not the arrival to your goal that’s exciting (actually it’s anticlimactic), it the journey that’s what makes it all worth it.

Count your blessings dry cleaner. You’re one of the few brave enough to go into and stay in business. You are making a difference. I salute you. It’s your duty to make your business as big as you possibly can. I’m on your side. I know you can do it. Go forward and make it happen.
