Can You Make Your Dry Cleaning Business Really, Really Profitable?

Yes you can!

You’ve got to change your focus from whatever your focusing on in your dry cleaning business and now focus on getting customers in your door.

The days are gone where you could put up a drop store and people would flock to you. Gone are the days where you dominated your town. Gone are the days that you didn’t have to market your dry cleaning business. Those days are long gone.

The only way you can be profitable in your dry cleaning business is to be getting a constant flow of new route customers.

How can you do that?

Ask For Referrals – you don’t have to do it in person, but you can do it in many different ways. Once a month, staple a flyer on your deliveries asking your customer to refer their neighbors to you. Give them $10 worth of dry cleaning and send them a letter thanking them. The amount of compensation you give them is not important, but recognizing them for the referral is. You can also start a newsletter and ask for referrals. You can create a sticker that you can put on everything you send out to your customers that asks for referrals.  If you think about it, you can come up with many ways to ask for referrals. And once these systems are on autopilot, you can go to the next idea for your dry cleaning business.

Google Adwords – these are the ads that are on the right hand side of the page when you do a search and there are a few on the top too. When someone searches for a dry cleaning business in your town, you want your dry cleaner to pop up. How do you do that?

The first thing you do is go to Google Adwords and get signed up. Start with only these three keywords: dry cleaner [your town, your state], dry cleaners [your town, your state] and dry cleaning [your town, your state].

My keywords are look like this: dry cleaner pittsford ny, dry cleaners pittsford ny, dry cleaning pittsford, ny.

Those are the three most used keyword phrases that your prospects will by typing into Google’s search engine when they are looking for a dry cleaner in your town. Go ahead and Google me–type in “dry cleaner pittsford ny” and see what happens.  You should see me to the right all by my lonesome (as of January 10th, 2010).

The next thing you must do within Google for your dry cleaning business ad is to localize it. There is an option to set up the Google ad for your local area only.  And the last thing you want to do is give it a small budget of about $5/day.  Do this until you really know what you’re doing. You don’t want to blow your money if you make a mistake.

Bag Drops – if you do these right, you can get boatloads of customers. I have 150+ dry cleaners all over the world using bag drops every week to get customers for their dry cleaning business routes. Don’t use a brochure, use a sales letter.  If you want to find out more about bag drops, go the right and get signed up for my free report.

Well, I’ve given you three ideas to help you make your dry cleaning business profitable. The key is to take action and get going with something. Start with referrals and move on to the dry cleaning business marketing idea.
